Last Month to Board the Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Boat and Museum Tug Ohio
October is here and the National Museum of the Great Lakes reminds our community that it’s the final month to board and explore the Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Ship and Museum Tug Ohio before they close for the season. Both vessels will be open to the public until Thursday, October 31, with the final boarding call at 4 pm. The boats will close for the winter beginning on November 1 and reopen on May 1, 2025. Our winter hours will also begin on November 1, and the museum will be closed on Tuesdays until the spring.
“We’re excited to welcome visitors for one more month of maritime adventures aboard our boats,” said Kate Fineske, the museum’s Executive Director. “This is your last chance to explore these historic ships this year, so don’t miss out!”
Additionally, on Wednesday, October 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the museum will host its first-ever Maritime Career Day. While the museum will remain open to all visitors, there will be larger crowds and job fair participants set up throughout the exhibit spaces. We encourage guests to take this into consideration when planning their visit that day.
