MAMRY and Bridges

A saltie, the Mamry is towed through the Craig Street Bridge and under the Veterans Glass City Skyway Bridge in October 2018.  A saltie is an ocean-going ship that has entered the Great Lakes system.  The Mamry is a Cypriot ship that is chartered for use by a company in Quebec. In enclosed waters like the Maumee, foreign flagged vessels utilize tugboats, both at the bow and the stern, to keep the vessel in check as it moves down the river.  The tug in the stern is to control the movement of the boat.

Before the building of the Veterans Glass Skyway Bridge, the Craig Street Bridge was that last drawbridge that was part of the US Interstate system.
