Inside the Lighthouse

The Toledo Lighthouse has been a part of the entrance to the Maumee River since 1904. The lighthouse is especially known for its Romanesque architecture but has been an unmanned light since 1966. Local citizens have been working diligently for years to assist in the restoration of the lighthouse as a tourism attraction – in 2006 the Secretary of the Interior signed over ownership of the lighthouse to the Toledo Harbor Lighthouse Preservation Society. Their efforts are ongoing—but give a unique look into the view from the lighthouse and its continued restoration.
