Upper Lakes Shipping Company

The Upper Lakes Shipping Company began in 1931 focusing on the shipment of coal, iron ore, stone and salt. They branded themselves with a black diamond with a white border in the center of a red background. Their logo was placed on the smokestacks of their vessels and seen here on this nine-foot swallowtail flag. Upper Lakes Shipping Company remained in operation until 2011 when it was purchased by Algoma Central Corporation
