Second Wave Update: Walls are Going Up
Excitement is truly building as we continue to make progress on our Second Wave expansion! We recently marked a significant milestone as the drywall was installed in our new office space. With walls now in place, we’re beginning to see how this space will transform our daily operations and improve collaboration among our team. What was once just a blueprint is becoming a tangible, functional environment that will support the incredible work we do for the museum and our visitors.

But that’s not all! We’re thrilled to share that the walls of the Great Lakes Community Education Center are also starting to take shape. This dedicated space will soon become a hub for community engagement, educational programming, and events that celebrate the history and future of the Great Lakes. Seeing the physical structure of this center come together is inspiring—it’s a reminder of the transformative impact this expansion will have, not just for our museum, but for the entire region.

As we walk through these spaces, it’s hard not to imagine the vibrant energy that will fill them in the months to come. From team brainstorming sessions in the new office to hands-on learning experiences in the education center, these walls are more than just a construction milestone—they’re the foundation of future connections, creativity, and discovery.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build toward our vision for the Second Wave expansion. We can’t wait to share this journey with you and, soon enough, invite you into these incredible new spaces. There’s still time to contribute to the expansion. Make a gift and have a direct impact on our future.
