Second Wave Expansion Update: Construction Begins on the 5,000 Square Foot Addition

The Second Wave construction journey is moving along very well. So well, in fact, that we have another update for you already! The much anticipated steel supply arrived and construction has officially begun on the 5,000 square foot addition to our facility. The added space will be used for more exhibits, including permanent, temporary, and travelling, as well as community education, and the museum’s staff.

As part of the current construction activities, we are in the process of installing structural steel for the addition. This crucial step builds the base for the expansion, which will provide new opportunities to showcase the rich maritime history of the Great Lakes.

A New Hub for Our Team
In addition to the new build, we have also begun interior demolition in the former office and multipurpose rooms. This space is undergoing a complete transformation to serve as a new, modern office area for our museum team. Once completed, this renovated space will become a cohesive, collaborative hub where our team can work together more effectively to build a strong future for the museum.
