Thanks to All of Our Members Who Voted! We Are the Number 2 Ohio Attraction of the USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice 2017

The National Museum of the Great Lakes is proud to announce its 2nd place finish in the USA TODAY 10BEST Ohio Attractions reader’s choice contest. In July, independent travel writers nominated twenty attractions in the state of Ohio to participate in the online voting contest. For twenty-nine days, readers of USA TODAY voted for their choice of Ohio’s top attractions. The final 10BEST are:

  1. Toledo Museum of Art
  2. National Museum of the Great Lakes
  3. Cedar Point
  4. Amish Country
  5. Hocking Hills State Park
  6. Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens
  7. Put-in-Bay
  8. Franklin Park Conservatory
  9. Cleveland Museum of Art
  10. Cincinnati Museum Center

The National Museum of the Great Lakes, which finished 2nd in the final voting, is proud to be among attractions considered to be the very best, not only in Ohio, but in the United States. Christopher Gillcrist, Executive Director of the museum stated, “As a relatively new and considerably smaller institution than most of our fellow nominees, we are extremely pleased with our 2nd place finish. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, volunteers and board of directors. I am grateful to all of those people who took the time to vote and chose the National Museum of the Great Lakes as their favorite Ohio attraction.”

Gillcrist was quick to point out that readers voted two Toledo attractions as the top two attractions in the state of Ohio: The Toledo Museum of Art and the National Museum of the Great Lakes. “It is our hope that more people are beginning to recognize Toledo as a cultural destination city. I think this contest confirms what a lot of people in northwest Ohio already knew.”
