United States Power Squadron – Lieutenant Commander
The flag of a red canton and double white tridents denotes the rank of a Squadron Lieutenant Commander of the United States Power Squadron (USPS). The USPS has three different tiers, National, District, and Squadron; and within each tier there are multiple ranks.
The staff on the tridents indicate which branch of the USPS the flag belongs to. Underneath the three prongs on this flag is a perpendicular line forming a cross; that perpendicular line designates a Squadron officer. Districts have a triangle, and National have a circle.
There are several Lieutenant Commanders within every Squadron, each given a different role and responsibility within the organization; some are secretaries, others executive officers, and some education officers. No matter the job, each plays a crucial role in the success of the USPS.
