MIKE – M
The signal flag M – MIKE, is depicted with a blue background and a white “X” touching the four corners of the flag creating triangles along the edges. When flown alone, it signals that the vessel is stopped and making no headway.
OSCAR – O
The signal flag O – OSCAR, is a two colored flag that is bisected from upper left corner to lower right corner with the top being red and the bottom being yellow. When flown by itself it notifies nearby vessels that a man is overboard.
When MIKE and OSCAR are used together, it signals that the vessel has struck a shoal, bottomed out, or hit an unknown submerged object and requires assistance.
