
The National Museum of the Great Lakes is on the road with a new temporary banner exhibit at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library featuring Submarine History on the Great Lakes. Visit the Main Library in downtown Toledo to take a unique walk through submarine history and its shared connection to our Great Lakes.
Dive through submarine and military history on the Great Lakes including:
- The first documented submarines on the Great Lakes by Lodner Phillips
- Military Shipbuilding on the Great Lakes
- Submarine construction by Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company in Wisconsin
- Remembering the WWII Manitowoc submarines and sailors lost.

Submarine History on the Great Lakes will begin its exhibition in the main atrium on the first floor of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library — Main Library located at 325 Michigan Street in downtown Toledo. The library has free underground parking, accessible off Adam’s Street. The temporary exhibit officially opens on November 1 and will remain at the Library through the end of the year.
