Designated on April 25, 1974, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) was established to provide a focus for NOAA’s environmental and ecosystem research in the Great Lakes and coastal marine environments. In this presentation, NOAA’s Great Lake’s Regional Coordinator, Jennifer Day, join us to chronicle half a century of history and science on the Great Lakes.

  • Better understand the history of degradation of the Great Lakes
  • Learn how science is helping improve the Great Lakes’ physical, biological and chemical ecosystem

NOAA GLERL and its partners have been conducting innovative research on the dynamic environments and ecosystems of the Great Lakes and coastal regions for 50 years now. Together we will explore how they are working to provide information for resource use and management decisions that, in turn, are leading to safe and sustainable ecosystems, ecosystem services, and human communities.

This lecture is free, but registration is required. Donations are always happily accepted.
