Created especially for people who have sensory sensitivities, this dedicated time allows for a truly immersive and comfortable visit.

  • Crowds are limited, ensuring a peaceful and relaxed environment.
  • Our dimmed lighting creates a calming ambiance.
  • Exhibit sounds are lowered or even eliminated, reducing auditory stimulation.

To recognize Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, we’re partnering with the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities for special events this weekend.

  • Get $2 off admission when you arrive between 9 am and 10 am on Saturday and between 11 am and 12 pm on Sunday.
  • Join us Saturday at 9:20 and 9:40 am for special book readings in our theater gallery with local celebrity guests—Melissa Andrews from WTOL and author Katie Maskey.
  • Learn more about the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the resources they provide in our lobby on Saturday from 9 am to 11 am.
  • The first 50 visitors on both Saturday and Sunday will be entered into a drawing for a free Museum Family Membership.

The National Museum of the Great Lakes is also offering our Spring Break promotion, which provides one free youth admission with one adult admission. Take advantage of this deal when you arrive!

Plus, we’re proud to introduce our new accessibility cart, designed to provide enhanced resources and tools for visitors with sensory sensitivities.

We understand the importance of providing inclusive experiences for all visitors. That’s why we’re proud to announce that our museum is a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) by the prestigious International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Services (IBCCES). This recognition reflects our commitment to understanding and supporting individuals with autism and other sensory sensitivities.

Join us for a morning filled with exploration, learning, and joy, tailored to meet the unique needs of your family. Discover a space where everyone can thrive and make lasting memories.

Don’t miss out on this special event! Pre-order your tickets now or purchase at the door upon arrival so you and your family can embark on an unforgettable sensory friendly adventure at our museum.
