The National Museum of the Great Lakes is proud to work with the Maritime Archaeological Survey Team every year. We are pleased to announce and promote their annual dinner on April 13, 2018. This dinner is open to anyone who is interested. The dinner will take place at the Maumee Bay Lodge in Oregon, Ohio and tickets are $45.
Join new members of the Maritime Archaeology Survey Team at their annual meeting and dinner program. The dinner program on Saturday night is open to the public. It will be the annual meeting of the MAST membership, as well as an excellent presentation by MAST’s own Nancy Fisher, Master’s Student at the University of Malta, finishing her degree in Underwater Archaeology. She will be presenting on her dissertation project, which stems from work that MAST did on the Admiral. “The Admiral: An Investigation in Underwater Archaeology and Citizen Science”
How useful can is citizen science to maritime archaeology in Lake Erie? My study compares the work of a citizen scientist based boat plan to a systematic 3D photogrammetry survey within Lake Erie. My dissertation hopes to support the need for citizen science in Maritime Archaeology, especially in less than favorable conditions. The study focuses on the Admiral, highlighting the importance of 20th-century steel tugboats. I also hope to honor the lives of the men lost aboard the Cleveco and the Admiral
