The National Museum of the Great Lakes is pleased to announce a new program to its calendar of educational events. The Leader of the Lakes program is designed to introduce the public to maritime industry leaders from around the Great Lakes. The first event, scheduled for Wednesday, May 18, 2016, will feature Rear Admiral June E. Ryan, Commander of the Ninth Coast Guard District, U.S. Coast Guard.
“Commanding the Ninth District: RADM June Ryan” Learn about the Coast Guard’s state of affairs on the Great Lakes from the person who knows it best. And hear about her incredible career preparing her for command of one of the most important Coast Guard districts in the nation.
Prior to the luncheon, Rear Admiral Ryan will present to a group of local grade school students about the important role that education played in her career success. Approximately 200 students in 6th-8th grade will attend the engagement. Immediately following, Ryan will be the guest speaker at a ticketed luncheon in her honor at the Toledo Club.
Tickets for the luncheon are available by calling 419.214.5000 x 200. The ticket price helps support the student presentation. Members of the National Museum of the Great Lakes are $45 per person, non-members are $50 per person. Limited sponsor tables are available for $800 each.
NEW! Are you from the Rocky River or Vermilion areas? We are offering free motor coach transportation to the Leader of the Lakes Luncheon for the first 54 people who sign up! The bus will leave the Don Umerley Civic Center in Rocky River at 9 am. It will then stop in Vermilion and leave from the Giant Eagle Parking lot at 10am.
