The National Museum of the Great Lakes invites you, especially museum members in the Columbus, Ohio area to visit our Ohio Shipwrecks exhibit—a new NMGL temporary exhibit opening at the Ohio Statehouse. From Friday, May 12 through September, see a collection of artifacts relating to the shipwrecks on Lake Erie off of Ohio’s coast.
As a Great Lake state, Ohio shares 312 miles of shoreline with Lake Erie. It is estimated that over 2,000 ships have been lost in Lake Erie alone, nearly 600 of which are believed to be in Ohio waters. This National Museum of the Great Lakes temporary exhibit, located in the Map Room of the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio will explore just a few of these shipwrecks that occurred in Lake Erie near and around the shores of our “Buckeye State”.
The Exhibit is located in the Statehouse Map Room and the reception will be in the adjacent Museum Gallery. For Ohio Statehouse hours of operation, please visit here.
