Volunteer Coordinator Needed

The National Museum of the Great Lake, in Toledo, Ohio, is seeking a dedicated volunteer to organize, develop and manage the volunteer activities of the museum and its affiliated programs.   The museum is looking for someone who can volunteer approximately 8 hours a week to get the program off the ground in terms of assessing institutional needs, volunteer recruitment and retention efforts, and volunteer recognition programs.   The museum estimates an 8 hour per-week time commitment but believes that some of that time can be volunteered at the individual’s home.   Good written and oral communication skills are a necessity for the position as well as an ability to work with others. As a volunteer position, no benefits are available for the position except the thanks of a grateful organization.   Interested parties should contact John McCarty at 419-214-5000 x 203 or jmccarty@inlandseas.org . The National Museum of the Great Lakes is located at 1701 Front Street Toledo, Ohio 43605.

Fitzgerald Documentary Showings

We would like to thank everyone who came out to our Museum on the Move program in Rocky River, Ohio last night. Over 200 people attended the screening of our new documentary “A Good Ship and Crew Well Seasoned: The Fitzgerald and Her Legacy.” This documentary highlights stories about the Edmund Fitzgerald‘s seventeen years on the lakes before her tragic loss 40 years ago in November 1975. We will continue to bring this and other programs out into the community with our Museum on the Move program. Check our website at www.inlandseas.org to stay up to date on our programming.
